A Travel for Power

After being informed that we would be without power for at least three days and the closest hotel with vacancy was OKC we began our drive for power!! In OKC we stopped at the memorial were in April of 1995 the bombing occurred. The chairs represent the 168 men, women, and children killed that day. There are nine rows of chairs that represent the nine floors that were destroyed. Each row had a chair with the name of the person that was on that floor. At each end of the memorial is a arch that has the times 9:01 and 9:03. Those were the times of the bombings. Behind Justin and I is what the memorial called the survivor tree. It gives you a sick feeling to know that there were so many kids that lost there lives that day. The wall of hands were child friends and family members that lost love ones.The saying on the wall was written by a rescuer that played a part in helping the city receive justice. It was definitely worth driving to OKC for. This was a very unfortunate event but the memorial set up for the city is wonderful.

Welcome to Oklahoma

It was a normal stormy day in Altus last Thursday as Justin and I resided in our small apartment. Not much was happening with the weather when the AFB weather sirens went off. Justin and I stepped out side along with our neighbors to see what soon became a huge disaster. Justin quickly grabbed the camera when the clouds started to swirl very rapidly. Little did we know that a funnel was about to form from it all. The winds grew strong and rain came down in all directions. Of course by then we were inside and I was getting a little nervous. The thunder was extremely loud, and lightening was striking in our parking lot! It was quite the storm that caused the majority of the town to go without power for days, some without a roof, up-rooted trees, and depree everywhere. The AFB outdoor recreation center lost some very nice trailers and fifth-wheels just from the high winds. It was later determined that two small tornado's did actually touch ground in Altus. These were the first to touch down in this town since the 1980's.

Life On The Road...

A little over a month ago Justin was given orders to come to Altus Oklahoma to attend airdrop school for the air force. Since I am now in my last trimester I got to come along. West of Altus is a small wildlife reserve where we got pretty close to some very big buffalo! On the way home we stopped at a very popular burger place called Meers. There burgers are HUGE! Everything in the resturant is homemade and home grown, they even raise their own cattle. It was a really neat place.

Recently Altus had a small airshow where Justin was able to show his plane off to me, and give me a tiny idea of what his job in the air entails.

New Additions

HOLY PREGNANT!
Yep! We are pregnant with our first, and its a boy! He will soon be arriving. We are 33 weeks along, and I am countin down!! Ironically, Hunter Riley Hoffman, is due on our first anniversary July 21!! We are very excited but the closer it comes the more nervous we get! Not to mention I am very very uncomfortable! We cant wait!!

Our Awesome Dog!!

This is Layla!! We have had her since the end of October. She is a full bread boxer, and almost a year old! She is a great dog, that thinks she is human. She is a huge daddys girl! But she loves me too!
